Educational use for field studies including sampling by local schools and tertiary institutions; protection of remaining estuarine habitat and nursery areas for fish and crustaceans; good public access via Tallebudgera Creek Environmental Park boardwalk.
Patchy Avicennia mangrove stands along banks; remnant mangrove islands in an estuarine environment modified by human activity; rocky foreshores; shoal areas and scattered areas of saltmarsh.
Bream; estuary cod; flathead; garfish; mangrove jack; sea mullet; tailor; whiting; banana prawns.
