QPWS is charged with the protection and presentation of Queensland’s parks and forests. Careful management is required to protect our parks and forests and safeguard the values that make them important refuges for maintaining biodiversity and vital green spaces and marine areas for our enjoyment.
To assist in the effective management of our natural areas, QPWS has developed a Master Plan: A Master Plan for Queensland's Parks and Forests. This plan was released in October 2014 and outlines the direction for the management of all protected areas and State forests in Queensland for the next 10 years.
An implementation strategy will support the Master Plan and provide details on projects and initiatives QPWS is working on to achieve its targets and actions.
