Camping at Wallaman Falls, Girringun National Park

Wallaman Falls camping area is adjacent to Stony Creek. Wood fire barbecues, picnic tables, shelter sheds, water and a cold water shower are provided. Remember to treat all water before drinking.

If you prefer to rough it, limited bush camping opportunities exist as part of the Wet Tropics Great Walk. These are ‘hike-in’ sites and campers need to be totally self-sufficient. Read more about the Wet Tropics Great Walk, which may be closed during the wet season, and for management purposes.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Camping area features: pleasant, camping area set in open woodland adjacent to Stony Creek.

Location: from the entrance to the park, follow the dirt road straight ahead to the camping area.

Access: the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicle. It is not accessible for caravans. Although the camping area as a whole is accessible by car, it is necessary to park a short distance from each camp site. It is not possible to drive onto camp sites.

Number of sites: two open areas without separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping, walk-in camping, camper trailers, campervans, motorhomes (small) and large groups.

Camp site surface: grass.

Facilities: composting toilets, cold water shower, picnic tables, and wood-fire barbecues.

Open fires: allowed (except when fire bans apply) in existing fire rings only. Do not collect firewood in the national park.

Generators: not permitted.

Essentials to bring: drinking water or a water treatment device, rubbish bags, insect repellent. Read more about things to know before you go.

Bookings: book online or learn about our camping booking options. Advance bookings are required for holiday periods.

Mobile phone coverage: not available. A public phone is available at the camping area.
