Be inspired: Chasing volcanoes (and waterfalls) in the tropical north

They say ‘don’t go chasing waterfalls’ but we suggest you do, and volcanoes too! Photo credit: Steven Nowakowski © Queensland Government

This park contains the remains of one of the earth’s longest flows of lava originating from a single volcano. Caves within this lava tube system are fertile pockets in which rainforest plant and animal species thrive.

Location

The park is 300km south-west of Cairns or 420km north-west of Townsville.
