Camping in Idalia

Camp in the peaceful Monks Tank camping area, hidden in mulga woodlands. Wake early to enjoy birdwatching at dawn.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.

Park-specific conditions

  • Be alert and prepared for changes in weather. Even small amounts of rain on the park or in surrounding areas can cause floods at any time of year. It is recommended you leave the park before this occurs.
  • Access to Monks Tank camping area is via a narrow unsealed road. Entry is difficult for large caravans.
  • Camp fires permitted, except when fire prohibitions or fire bans are in place. Bring your own clean-cut, weed free firewood. Collecting firewood in the national park is not permitted. Fuel stoves are recommended.

  • Monks Tank camping area features open bush camping sites in mulga woodlands approximately 33km from the park entrance.
