Camping in Main Range Conservation Park

An open, grassy camping area not far from the creek is available to all those who wish to camp at Main Range Conservation Park.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Park-specific conditions

  • Camping is only permitted at designated camping areas.
  • The maximum length of stay is 29 nights.
  • Campers with a horse float are to camp in the group camping area only—as identified on the map.
  • Horses must be tethered or confined when not being ridden. Either use the yards provided (as shown on the map) or set up your own portable yards in the group camping area. Electric fences must not be used in the camping area.

Roads to the park are narrow and winding, with numerous creek crossings that can become impassable after heavy rain. Weather conditions can change rapidly—LEAVE EARLY! Once creek crossings are flooded you could be stuck in the park for several days.
