During the North Queensland wet season local heavy rainfall may cause significant stream rises throughout Wooroonooran National Park. During and after heavy rain, creek conditions change and become dangerous. Fast flowing, rapidly rising water, with strong currents, occurs. At some locations even when conditions are sunny and dry, rain in upper catchments can cause water levels to rise rapidly, without warning. Visitors are urged to use caution at all times around waterways. Always supervise children closely.
Follow these steps to stay safe:
- Always be Crocwise.
- If its flooded forget it.
- Check weather conditions via the Bureau of Meteorology before visiting.
- Read more on your safety during extreme weather events.
