Camping along the Goldfield trail, Wooroonooran National Park

Camp about about halfway along the Goldfield trail at the Mulgrave River top causeway. The camping area is at the end of the old logging road, alongside the Mulgrave River.

Camping is also permitted at the north-west end of the trail, at the Goldsborough Valley camping area.

Only experienced and well-equipped bushwalkers should do overnight hikes in this area. A camping permit must be obtained in advance and camping fees apply.

Mulgrave River top causeway bush camping area

Features: beside the Mulgrave River, half way along the Goldfield trail.

Location: at the causeway at the end of the old logging road, 8 km from the north-west end (Goldsborough Valley camping area), or 11 km from the south-east end (The Boulders Scenic Reserve).


Access: the camping area can be reached on foot from either end of the trail or by mountain bike from the north-west end (Goldsborough Valley camping area).

Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in camping, bike-in camping.

Facilities: none.

Open fires: not allowed. Fuel stoves are permitted.

Generators: not permitted.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, fuel stove for cooking, rubbish bags, sun protection and insect repellent.
