Park features

Samford Conservation Park is situated about 20km from Brisbane’s CBD. This 624ha park is a refuge for native flora and fauna, protecting important habitats for reptiles, mammals and birds, and it forms part of the Mountains to Mangroves Corridor. From the impressive narrow-leaved red ironbark trees Eucalyptus crebra to the amazing possums, lorikeets and flying-foxes, the park is full of life. The Ironbark Gully picnic area also provides refuge for visitors looking to take a break from the speed of city life and enjoy the natural environment that makes Samford Conservation Park so special.

The Ironbark Gully picnic area is a great place to enjoy a barbecue. Walk through the ironbark forest along the Crebra circuit for the chance to see some of the native wildlife that lives in the park.

Looking after the park

• Everything in this park is protected. Do not take or interfere with plants or animals.
• Do not feed or leave food for animals. Human food can harm wildlife and cause some animals to become aggressive.
• Keep dogs on a leash and under control. Please pick up and dispose of your dog’s droppings responsibly.
• Stay on track—do not cut corners or create new tracks.
• Take rubbish home with you as no bins are provided.
• Light fires only in the barbecues provided. Do not collect wood for fires from the park. Bring your own clean-milled wood, such as untreated mill cut-offs.

Park management

Samford Conservation Park is a sanctuary for many native Australian plants and animals. This multiple-use park provides essential habitat for flora and fauna in South East Queensland.

Samford Conservation Park is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, to protect its conservation values and recreational opportunities.
