Camping in Porcupine Gorge National Park

Pyramid camping area has 22 sites and basic facilities. Some camp sites have wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, see table below for descriptions of individual camp sites.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Park-specific conditions

After storms, the access road may be temporarily closed or inaccessible to conventional vehicles.

Camping area features: situated in the upper level of the gorge, the camping area is the starting point for the 2.4km return Pyramid track that leads down into the gorge.

Location: 500m from the park entrance and 2.5kms from Mount Emu Plains Road.

Access: when dry, the camping area can be reached by conventional vehicles as well as trailers, caravans and buses, with care.

Campsites are suitable for: tent camping beside your car, caravans, camper trailers, small and large motor homes and large groups. Refer to tables above for details.

Campsite surface: dirt.

Facilities: composting toilets and picnic tables.

Open fires: Camp fires are only permitted in the fire rings provided. All sites with the exception of site number 1, 3, 6, 11 and 17 have fire rings. Firewood is not to be collected from the national park.

Generators: not allowed.
