Newry Islands National Park Mackay

Camping in Newry Islands

The Newry Islands provide a range of camping opportunities including sites with limited facilities such as pit toilets, shelter and picnic tables. Camper numbers are limited to ensure a quality experience for all visitors. Some camping areas accommodate multiple group bookings while others allow for a single group booking only.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site.

Our precious Great Barrier Reef World Heritage islands are among the most pest-free islands in the world. They need your help to stay this way. Please Be pest-free! (PDF, 573.6KB) before your visit.

Park-specific conditions

Avoid introducing pests. Ensure everything you bring is clean and free of soil, seeds, ants, insects, rodents or cane toads.

Warning: Rough weather can happen unexpectedly. Pack extra supplies in case you are unable to leave the islands.

Dangerous stinging jellyfish (marine stingers) may be present all year. Visit www.marinestingers.com.au for the latest safety advice.
