Bookings and permits

4 February 2020 – Permit bookings available through Mulgumpin Camping (Moreton Island Recreation Area)

From February 2020, camping and vehicle access permits to access the Moreton Island (Mulgumpin) Recreation Area are booked and managed through Mulgumpin Camping, which is owned and operated by the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC).

The Queensland National Parks Booking Service no longer manage permit bookings for the Moreton Island Recreation Area.

10 January 2020 - permit booking system transition (Moreton Island Recreation Area)

All Moreton Island Recreation Area permit holders are advised there are some changes to the administrative arrangements which necessitate the provision of booking information to a new booking system provider, and new service manager, the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC).

During the transition period your booking will be held on both booking systems, and will require the provision of information, including personal information to the new booking system.

Permit holders’ personal information will continue to be treated confidentially as required under the Information Privacy Act 2009 and the service agreement contract held between QYAC and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS). It will only be able to be used to verify bookings, and to allow Rangers to check permits.

No action is required by permit holders, and current bookings continue to remain valid.

Camping permit holders who do not wish for their personal information to be transferred to the new booking system, have until 20 January 2020 to cancel their booking in the QPWS’s existing booking system. Vehicle access permit holders that have a current permit and wish to cancel it can do so by emailing .

All permits and bookings to access Moreton Island (Mulgumpin) will be made through a new Moreton / Mulgumpin Camping website which is being established in early 2020. People who wish to book a permit will be re-directed to the new booking platform when it is available.
