About the zoning plan

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) manages the Moreton Bay Marine Park through the Marine Parks (Moreton Bay) Zoning Plan 2019. Moreton Bay Marine Park is a State marine park. The zoning plan identifies different zones within the marine park, states the objectives for each zone and identifies the level of protection for the zone. The zoning plan lists the activities which can occur ‘as of right’, those that have entry and use provisions (PDF, 13.6MB) and those for which a permit is required.

Please note, while the resources listed below refer to the previous 2008 Zoning Plan, they remain applicable and may still be used. A process is underway to update references to the 2019 Zoning Plan. Find out more about the 2019 zoning plan remake and review process.

user guide (PDF, 13.6MB) is available that has been designed specifically for marine park users.

It is an overview of the provisions of the Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan and has 28 detailed maps showing zone and designated area boundaries.
