Camping in Mangkalba (Cedar Bay), Ngalba Bulal National Park

There are two options for camping in Mangkalba (Cedar Bay), Ngalba Bulal National Park: Cedar Bay camping area (a designated camping area on the coast adjacent to Cedar Bay), or camping along the Home Rule track (either bush camping beside the track or at Granite Creek camping area). No facilities are provided and campers must be self-sufficient.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. Your booking number must be displayed at your campsite.

Camping area features: a quiet and remote area amid coastal vegetation.

Location: just east of 'Centre Garden' at the southern end of the beach adjacent to Cedar Bay.

Access: the camping area is accessible by boat from the beach or by hiking in on the Home Rule track.

Number of sites: open area without separately defined sites.

Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in or boat-based camping.

Camp site surface: sand and leaf litter. 

Facilities: none.

Open fires: not allowed. Fuel stoves are recommended. 

Generators: prohibited. 

Essentials to bring: food, a fuel stove, drinking water, rubbish bags to carry out your rubbish, insect repellent and a mosquito net. Read more about things to know before you go.

Home Rule track (including Granite Creek camping area)

Features: camp along the 17km Home Rule track in a quiet and remote national park.

Location: Granite Creek camping area is located about 50m north of the junction of Slaty and Granite creeks, on the Home Rule side of the Slaty Creek crossing. Bush camping is allowed elsewhere along the track if required.

Access: only accessible by foot from either Home Rule Rainforest Lodge or from Cedar Bay along the Home Rule track.

Number of sites: Granite Creek camping area is an open area without separately defined sites. Bush camping is allowed elsewhere along the track in any suitable spot.

Camp sites are suitable for: walk-in camping only.

Camp site surface: dirt and leaf litter.

Facilities: none.

Open fires: not allowed. Fuel stoves are recommended.

Generators: prohibited.
