Park features

This largely undeveloped park features remote sandstone gorges surrounded by remnant eucalypt forest.

Discover a diverse range of plants and animals, including the near-threatened mountain guinea flower Hibbertia monticola and vulnerable species such as the Helidon ironbark Eucalpytus taurina, brush-tailed rock-wallaby Petrogale penicillata and black-breasted button-quail Turnix melanogaster.

Experience a variety of popular recreational activities, including remote bushwalking, and 4WD and motorbike touring.

Looking after the park

Following these guidelines to help protect the natural environment for future enjoyment, and ensure the survival of native plants and animals living here.

Visitors must comply with all regulatory signs.

• Everything in the national park is protected. Do not take or interfere with plants or animals.
• Do not collect firewood—fallen timber provides homes for many insects and small animals.
• Do not feed or leave food for animals. Human food can harm wildlife and cause some animals to become aggressive.
• Stay on formed roads—do not cut corners or create new tracks.
• Take rubbish home with you as no bins are provided.

Lockyer National Park is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service for its conservation values and recreational opportunities.
