Camping in Keppel Bay Islands

Keppel Bay Islands National Park has seven islands offering a range of camping opportunities. North Keppel Island and Humpy Island support camping in larger groups. The other small islands provide a more self-sufficient camping experience and are suitable for families and couples. There is no ferry service to any of the national park islands. Some charter operators service the area.

If relying on commercial transport to the islands ensure you have organised your vessel passage prior to booking your camping holiday. See tourism information links for more information.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. Obtain your permit before setting up camp and attach it to your tent in a visible position.

Our precious Great Barrier Reef World Heritage islands are among the most pest-free islands in the world. They need your help to stay this way. Please Be pest-free! (PDF, 573.6KB) before your visit.

Park-specific conditions

Warning: Strong wind, heavy rainfall and large tidal changes can make boating extremely dangerous in Keppel Bay. Check and maintain your safety equipment and notify the Yeppoon Volunteer Coastguard of your itinerary.
