About Imbil

    Park features

This area features the large Charlie Moreland camping area beside Little Yabba Creek—it is a great place to camp and explore the creek and forests on walking tracks and forest roads. Luxuriant rainforest, tall eucalypt forest, mosaics of plantation forest, boulder-strewn creeks and spectacular scenery make this area well worth a visit.

The diverse forests provide homes for a wonderful variety of wildlife including more than 120 species of birds and many mammals. The threatened and seldom-seen yellow-bellied glider lives in the open forest.

Imbil State Forest adjoins Conondale National Park, where there are more walks (including the 56km Conondale Range Great Walk), waterfalls and other features to see.

    Looking after the park

Help protect our natural environment by practicing minimal impact recreation.

Take all your rubbish out of the forest and dispose of it appropriately at a waste disposal facility on your route or when you get home. Pack strong sealable storage bags or containers and remove excess packaging to minimise your rubbish.

For wildlife health and food safety—store food away from foraging wildlife and in strong lockable containers.

Keep creeks near camping and day-use areas clean for wildlife and visitors. Forest creeks feed water into the Mary River and on to domestic water supplies.

See Caring for parks and forests for more information about protecting our environment and heritage in parks.

    Park management

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) manages the camping area, day-use area and associated walking tracks and trails under the Forestry Act 1959.

The plantation forests in this area are managed by HQPlantations.
