East Hope Island camping area

East Hope Island camping area features peaceful bush camping, far from the bustle of the mainland and is located on the western side of East Hope Island.

Camping area features: peaceful bush camping, far from the bustle of the mainland.

Location: on the western side of East Hope Island.

Access: private vessel or with permitted commercial operators. See the tourism information links for details. Access is only possible in fair weather. Weather forecasts are available from the Bureau of Meteorology. The islands are within a day's sailing from Cairns and Cooktown, and are an important stop over and anchorage for boats heading to and from Lizard Island and beyond.

Number of sites: three sites (separate but not numbered).

Camp sites are suitable for: small to medium sized tents. Each camp site holds up to four people with a maximum total of 12 campers allowed on the island at any one time.

Camp site surface: sand.

Facilities: a pit toilet, picnic tables and seats. At each site poles are provided for erecting tarpaulins.

Open fires: prohibited. Bring a fuel or gas stove.

Generators: not permitted.

Essentials to bring: drinking water, rubbish bags, fuel or gas stove, comprehensive first-aid kit, insect repellent and sun protection equipment. Read more about before you visit.
