Camping in Hell Hole Gorge

Camping is allowed near Powell Creek, 750m from Hell Hole Waterhole.

Visitors must be self-sufficient. Bring at least 7 litres of water per person per day for cooking, drinking and washing and always have extra supplies of food and fuel on hand. Pack a first-aid kit, a portable toilet, vehicle spare parts and containers for keeping rubbish secure for removal from the park when you leave.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. Campers must purchase an e-permit before arrival—self-registration is not available.

Park-specific conditions

  • Camp only in the designated camping area.
  • Camping is not permitted at Hell Hole Waterhole.
  • The maximum length of stay is 7 nights.

Be alert and prepared for changes in weather. At any time of year, even small amounts of rain falling on the park or in surrounding areas can cause floods or make access roads impassable.
