Fern Flat walkers' camp

The Fern Flat camping area is located beside Broken River, where you may be able to spot a platypus. The nearby Broken River day-use area can be reached by conventional vehicles, but the camping area itself can be reached by foot only.

Visitors need to book their camping permit before they visit. Book online, at an over-the-counter booking office or by phone.

The Fern Flat camping area is located beside Broken River, Eungella National Park, where you may be able to spot a platypus. The camping area is suitable for tent camping, a short walk from your vehicle. Not suitable for camper trailers, caravans or motorhomes. Facilities include a hybrid toilet in camping area. The nearby day-use area has toilet facilities, information centre, picnic tables and gas barbecues. Mobile phone coverage is not available. The nearest mobile phone reception is at Sky Window day-use area.

Location: 600m from Broken River day-use area, which is about 5km from Eungella township.

Access: can be reached by conventional vehicles, 600m along the gravel road.

Number of sites: 8 sites. Maximum 4 people per site.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping, a short walk from your vehicle.

Camp site surface: grass and dirt.

Facilities: hybrid toilet in camping area. Nearby day-use area has toilet facilities, information centre, picnic tables and gas barbecues. All water must be treated before human consumption.

Open fires: allowed in fire rings only (except when fire bans apply). Fuel stoves are recommended. Bring your own clean milled timber.

Generators: not allowed.

Essentials to bring: all food and drinking water, sturdy rubbish bags, insect repellent, sun protection, first-aid kit and reliable torch. Read more about before you visit.
