Rainforest-clad peaks shelter the largest stand of ancient bunya pines in the world. Discover cool mountains, rainforests and waterfalls, unique range-top grasslands, panoramic views, colourful birdlife and enthralling stories of times long ago.

Location

About 200km or three hours’ drive north-west of Brisbane, the final mountain ascent is via steep, narrow and winding roads.

For generations, people have been gathering at the Bunya Mountains. The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) acknowledges the ongoing connection Aboriginal people have with this special place, and asks that you treat the area with care and respect.
