Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burn operations from the 7th till the 14th of June 2023 at Wuthara Island group (formerly Forbes), as part of the annual hazard reduction and conservation management burn program for parks and forests, weather permitting. These planned burns aim to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire and are vital to the ecology of these forests. To reduce risk, these islands will be closed to the public during the aforementioned dates.
