This alert applies to the following park:
- Kroombit Tops National ParkBundaberg; Gladstone; Outback Queensland
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns over the next two months, commencing Monday 22/05/23, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
These burns are being undertaken to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.
Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of the WWII Bomber access road. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.
During the planned burn, these areas may be temporaily closed to public access:
· Access to the WWII Bomber site and walking track
Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure.
Apply for a camping permit refund online at www.qld.gov.au/camping. Log into your account and cancel your booking up to two days before your booking commences to receive an automatic refund or alternatively apply for a refund.
Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
