This alert applies to the following park:
- Cania Gorge National ParkBundaberg
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns, weather permitting, over the next 2 months, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
These burns are being undertaken to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.
Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Cania Road, Cania Gorge Day-Use-Area & Fern Tree/Giants Chair walking track. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.
During the planned burn these areas are closed to public access:
- Fern Tree Pool/Giants Chair walking track
Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
Facilities will reopen when the event is completed.
