This alert applies to the following park:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships(QPWS&P) will be conducting planned burns in Noosa National Park from Wednesday 3 May through to Thursday 31 August weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result, smoke may be seen in the Sunshine Beach, Noosa, Noosaville, Peregian, Peregian Breeze, Coolum and Weyba Downs areas. The aim of these burns is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration. Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. Track closure will be in place with alternate routes available. Please observe signage, barriers, do not enter closed areas and follow direction from rangers. Safety is our concern but your responsibility. For more information, please call the Tewantin office of QPWS&P on 07 53772700.
