Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting aerial planned burn operations on the Cape Cleveland section of Bowling Green Bay National Park until Friday 30 June 2023. The aim is to reduce the volume of grass fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration. Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. While planned burns are intended for the Cape Cleveland area, Cocoa Creek camping area will remain open to camping. For your safety please observe all signage, barriers, and directions from Rangers and do not enter closed areas.
