This alert applies to the following park:

As a result of a series of severe weather events throughout 2022 the eastern (dry) side of the Illinbah circuit will remain temporarily closed until declared safe. High amounts of rainfall have caused numerous landslips and large fallen trees across the walking track, resulting in hazardous and unsafe conditions.

The Gwongoorool track (6 km return) and the western (wet) side of the Illinbah circuit (17 km return) have been made safe and are now open for visitors to access.

The reopening also provides access to the Illinbah & Darlington remote bush camp sites for bushwalkers during the peak walking season between April and September.

Please note: The western (wet) side of the Illinbah circuit includes twelve creek crossings (one way) of the Coomera River to negotiate as part of the walk.

Please check the Bureau of Meteorology website for current weather forecast and water level heights of the Coomera River before undertaking this walk.

Remember - If it's flooded, forget it - even on our tracks and trails.

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.

Park alerts will be regularly updated regarding conditions on park. The next update will be provided by Friday the 29th of December 2023.
