This alert applies to the following park:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn in Plunkett Conservation Park adjacent Yarrabilba in the Wickham Peak area tomorrow, Wednesday 22 June to Friday 24 June 2022 weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction / conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result, smoke may be seen in the Yarrabilba, Logan Village, Cedar Creek, Wolffdene, Buccan and Tamborine Village areas.

Temporary recreation trail closures will include:

  • The Calytrix circuit and Wickham Peak trail
  • Cave Track, Link Track, Allys Break, Grass Tree Break, Sandstone Break, Curtis Break, Spa Break and Steele Break

The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration. Smoke can decrease visibility on the road so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions. Please observe signage, barriers, do not enter closed areas and follow direction from rangers. Safety is our concern but your responsibility. For more information, please call The Gap office of QPWS on 07 3164 3600.

For your safety please obey all fire restrictions.

Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.

Facilities will reopen when conditions are considered safe.
