This alert applies to the following park:

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn in the Northbrook Mountain section of the D’Aguilar National Park on Tuesday 21st through to Friday 24th June 2022 weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.

As a result, smoke may be seen in the Mount Glorious, Mount Nebo, Dundas, Split Yard Creek, England Creek and Banks Creek areas.

The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas.

This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads, so it is important that motorists drive safely to the conditions.

For the duration of the burn Northbrook Mountain and England Creek bush camps will be closed along with access into Northbrook Gorge and associated fire trails and walking tracks including Westside walking track.

For more information, please call The Gap office of QPWS on 07 3164 3600.

Facilities will reopen when the event is completed.

Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
