This alert applies to the following park:
- Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National ParkSunshine Coast
Work has commenced on upgrading the firebreak along the eastern side of Kings Bore Road to Teewah Beach within the Cooloola Recreation Area. Heavy machinery will be occurring as part of these works from 15 June through to 22 July 2022.
These works will provide emergency services access from Kings Bore Road along the critical east-west fireline to the beach. Due to severe erosion, realignment, widening and some vegetation clearing is required. QPWS has received environmental and cultural endorsement, with cultural observers on site monitoring the works.
The Kings Bore Circuit, including the Eastern Firebreak and the Western Firebreak, is closed to public access for the duration of the roadworks.
Thank you for your patience during these road works.
Please monitor park alerts on the department's website for updated information.
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
