This alert applies to the following park:
- Bribie Island National Park and Recreation AreaBrisbane; Sunshine Coast
Heavy rainfall has caused flooding and severe beach erosion to occur in the Bribie Island Recreation Area. As a result, the following areas are temporarily CLOSED until further notice.
- Ocean Beach camping area
- Gallagher Point camping area
- Poverty Creek camping areas
- Mission Point camping area
- Lime Pocket camping area
- All access tracks including, Poverty Creek and Gallagher access tracks, The Northern Access Track and Ocean Beach.
Rangers are regularly assessing conditions and will reopen areas when it is safe to do so. At this stage we anticipate the recreation area will reopen to visitors on Saturday, 28 May.
All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure. Refunds can be applied for via your online account at www.qld.gov.au/camping
Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
