This alert applies to the following parks:

A feral animal control program involving aerial shooting will be conducted in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL), Lama Lama National Park (CYPAL) and Cape Melville National Park (CYPAL) from Monday 29 November to Friday 3 December 2021 (dates inclusive).

Please note:

  • Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) will remain open until the annual wet season closure is expected to begin on Wednesday 1 December 2021 (conditions dependant).
  • Lama Lama National Park (CYPAL) will remain open for visitors during the control program.
  • Cape Melville National Park (CYPAL) will be closed during this period, noting the annual wet seaosn closure is expected to begin on Wednesday 1 December 2021.

People may hear helicopters and shooting while the control program is occurring.
