This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn commencing on 27 July 2021, for the period through until 6 August 2021 , as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.

These burns are being undertaken to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.

 

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Cania Road, the Cania Gorge Day Use Area and Cania Gorge NP walking tracks. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

During the planned burn, the areas below will be temporily closed to public access for periods, while burning operations are taking place in their location:

  • Giants Chair/Fern Tree circuit walking track
  • Two Storey Cave walking track

Traffic control will be in place, at times, on Cania Road in the vicinity of the Day Use Area.

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers or traffic controllers, and do not enter closed areas.

 

 All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure.

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
