This alert applies to the following park:
- Bribie Island National Park and Recreation AreaBrisbane; Sunshine Coast
The Northern Access Track (inland track) is temporarily closed until further notice due to wet weather conditions. The track is closed north of the Poverty Creek Road junction.
Gallagher Point, Poverty Creek and Ocean Beach camping areas remain open to campers.
Heavy rainfall has caused all four lagoons on Ocean Beach to break through and flow across the beach. Deep washouts are likely near the lagoons, with conditions constantly changing with the tides. Check water depth before crossing washouts, as fast flowing water and soft sand can make vehicle crossing dangerous.
Motorists should use caution when travelling along the beach and travel at a reduced speed to avoid hazards such as steep sand dunes, deep washouts, hidden banks, fallen trees, exposed coffee rock, exposed WWII structures and large debris. Beach travel is recommended one hour either side of low tide only. Driving over vegetated dunes is not permitted despite conditions.
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
In an emergency situation, call 000.
