This alert applies to the following park:

Due to planned construction works the Alligator Creek visitor precinct at Bowling Green Bay National Park will remain closed and completion date has been revised to 31 August 2022. This is due to heavy rainfall events in late April and May which has delayed construction of the walking tracks and boardwalk components of the project.

The Queensland Government is investing 2.3 million dollars to upgrade visitor facilities at Alligator Creek within Bowling Green Bay National Park.  These upgrades will enhance visitor experience and enjoyment of one of Townsville’s premier picnic areas.  A significant focus of the upgrade is to improve facilities so that all members of the community, including mobility-impaired visitors can enjoy the site.  Upgrade works include new tracks, picnic facilities, additional vehicle parking, seating, viewing decks and enhanced access to Alligator Creek.

Due to the large scope of the redevelopment, demolition and construction activities require site closure, including tracks that lead off the Day Use Area, to ensure the safety of park visitors and construction workers at the site.  We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause and are working as fast as we can to have the new facilities open as soon as possible.

For your safety, please do not enter closed areas during this time. Please check Park Alerts on the department’s website for updates.
