This alert applies to the following parks:
- Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National ParkSunshine Coast
- Cooloola Great WalkSunshine Coast
As a result of high fire danger conditions, the Cooloola Great Walk and Cooloola Wilderness Trail are temporarily closed until further notice. High fire danger conditions pose an unacceptable risk to the safety of walkers in remote areas. Areas will be re-opened once conditions are considered safe.
This restriction affects:
- Cooloola Great Walk
- Cooloola Wilderness Trail
- All Cooloola Great Walk and Cooloola Wilderness Trail campsites (except Fig Tree Point)
The following short or day walks in Cooloola Recreation Area will remain open: to Carlo Sandblow, Double Island Point, Poona Lake, Harry’s Hut, Mill Point, Kinaba and Fig Tree Point.
All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure. To apply for a refund, a booking change, or system credit, log on to your account at www.qld.gov.au/camping
For your safety, please do not enter these closed areas and observe all signage and directions from rangers.
