Total Fire Prohibition

This alert applies to the following parks:
- Inskip Peninsula Recreation AreaSunshine Coast
- Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National ParkSunshine Coast
Until further notice, open fires must not be lit anywhere in the Inskip Peninsula Recreation Area, or Cooloola Recreation Area, including Teewah Beach and Poverty Point camping areas.
The fire prohibition is in place due to current high fire danger conditions, and will remain in place until the risk of wildfire moderates.
Open fires such as wood fires that are not fully self-contained, including open campfires and fires in braziers, drums, other open containers, and QPWS supplied fire-rings where the fire can escape or cause ember drift cannot be used during this fire prohibition.
Visitors must comply with fire prohibition guidelines and directions of QPWS rangers.
Contravention of this prohibition is an offence under the Recreation Areas Management Act 2006. A maximum penalty of 165 penalty units applies. On-the-spot penalty $667.00.
