This alert applies to the following park:

Camping areas south of Lakefield ranger base in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (CYPAL) will re-open after the wet season on Tuesday 1 June 2021. Please see further information below for all camping areas.

The following camping areas south of Lakefield ranger base will re-open Tuesday 1 June 2021:

  • Kalpowar Crossing
  • Mick Fienn Waterhole
  • Dingo Waterhole
  • Old Faithful Waterhole
  • Kennedy Bend
  • Twelve Mile Lagoon – please note sites 7 and 8 will remain closed for cultural purposes.
  • Six Mile Waterhole
  • Old Laura Homestead
  • Horseshoe Lagoon
  • Welcome Waterhole

The following camping areas north of Lakefield ranger base are anticipated to re-open 1 July 2021 (weather and road condition dependent):

  • Sweetwater Lake
  • Annie River
  • Five Mile Creek
  • Seven Mile
  • Saltwater Crossing
  • Bizant River
  • Brown Creek
  • Basin Hole
  • Top Whiphandle Waterhole
  • Bottom Whiphandle Waterhole
  • Orange Plain Waterhole
  • Hann Crossing
  • Hanush’s Waterhole
  • Melaleuca Waterhole
  • Midway Waterhole
