Temporary closure of Wathumba and Teebing (Wathumba Spit) camping areas and Wathumba Road and Platypus Bay Road for wongari (dingo) management.

This alert applies to the following park:
The Wathumba camping area, Teebing (Wathumba Spit) camping area, Platypus Bay Road and Wathumba Road from Orchid Beach are temporarily closed until 1st July 2021 to allow for wongari (dingo) management.
The wongari situation is being monitored closely by rangers and should it be deemed safe for visitors to return to the closed areas they will reopen earlier than stated.
Visitors are reminded to keep children close and never feed wongari.
Remember K’gari is their place, give wongari space – do not approach wongari at any time.

For people with camping bookings over the closure period a booking change, refund or system credit will be available via the online booking system at www.qld.gov.au/camping
Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
