Camping closures

All camping areas in Queensland national parks, state forests and recreation areas are closed from 26 March 2020 until further notice. Check Park Alerts for more information.

Social distancing and hygiene protocols for protected areas

Applies until 30 April 2020.

This alert applies to the following parks:

For the health and wellbeing of our park visitors and staff, and to limit the spread of COVID-19 the following measures are being implemented across our parks.

QPWS rangers have increased cleaning and disinfecting of toilets, shared spaces in camping and day-use areas, and frequently touched surfaces and objects in our information centres.

Visitors are recommended to:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water, if this isn’t possible use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser before preparing food, eating and after going to the toilet.
  • Maintain social distancing of 1.5m or greater from all other visitors.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue
  • Ensure your campsite is located away from other tents.
  • Where possible, bring your own portable toilet.
  • Keep your rubbish secure and dispose in bins provided or take home.
  • Stay at home if you or any members of your group are unwell.
