Camping closures

All camping areas in Queensland national parks, state forests and recreation areas are closed from 26 March 2020 until further notice. Check Park Alerts for more information.

Ngkala Rocks impassable, Zone 9 (Diray and Carree) CLOSED

Applies until 30 April 2020.

This alert applies to the following parks:

Great Sandy National Park Kgari (Fraser Island) 18 March until 30 April

As a result of the severe weather, K’gari (Fraser Island) beaches, roads and access to camping areas have been affected;

  • Ngkala Rocks is currently impassable.
  • Camping Zone 9 (Diray and Carree) is not accessible, and are closed until 30th April.

Rangers will monitor on-ground and re-open when these areas are deemed safe.

Motorists should exercise caution at all times, and travel at low tide.

Remember, driving over vegetated dunes is prohibited. On-the-spot fines will be issued for anyone caught damaging the dunes.

Observe and adhere to all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
