Annual planned burn Mt Roper Section Conway National Park and Conway Conservation Park

Applies until 1 May 2020.

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be conducting planned burns within the Mt Rooper section of Conway National Park and Conway Conservation Park, weather permitting, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests. As a result, smoke may be seen on the western and eastern sides of the Mt Rooper section of Conway National Park and Conway Conservation Park. The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas. This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration. Smoke may also decrease visibility nearby on the roads, on the water and in the air so it is important that motorists, mariners and pilots drive/fly safely to the conditions
