Mount Barney National Park partially closed

Applies until 31 January 2020.

This alert applies to the following parks:

Mount Barney National Park, other than Mount Gillies and Mount Maroon sections and access to Yellow Pinch lookout, is closed until further notice.

The closure includes:

  • All camp sites
  • All other walking tracks
  • Summit routes
  • Facilities

Mount Barney National Park has been damaged by fire. The park will remain closed until Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers have assessed the damage and removed hazards.

Public entry is prohibited due to public health and safety issues such as:

  • Hazardous trees, limbs and fallen timber
  • Damaged tracks
  • Unstable soils and rocks.

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas. Fines apply for non-compliance.

*Please note that the Mount Gillies section of the park has limited public access and no facilities or marked walking tracks.
