Reopening of Main Range NP

This alert applies to the following parks:

Most areas of Main Range National Park have reopened, following significant wildfire damage in late 2019.

All camping areas within the park are now open.

Most walking tracks have reopened, but closures remain on the following:

  • Mt Mitchell
  • Box Forest
  • Gap Creek Falls

For your safety:

  • due to the loss of groundcover from fire or drought, landslides and falling rocks are possible in steep areas, during intense rainfall. Please avoid walking on the Mt Cordeaux walking track, the Bare Rock walking track, the Palm Grove walking track or the Queen Mary Falls circuit, if heavy rainfall is predicted.
  • please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.
  • Please contact the park office on 07 4666 1133, if you discover fallen trees, rocks etc. on walking tracks.
