No public access to North West Island from 1st June 2020 to 16th September, 2020
A closure of North West Island, including the North West Island camping area is required to facilitate the safe delivery of a major capital works and pest management projects.
The intended works will include the replacement of three amenity buildings and control of the exotic house mouse Mus musculus.
During this time, access to the North West Island section of the Capricornia Cays National Park will be restricted as per below:
- A Full Closure of North West Island (including the campground, walking track and all beaches) 1st June 2020 to 16th September 2020.
Alternative Island National Park campgrounds are available nearby on Mast Head Island, Lady Musgrave Island and various Keppel Bay Islands.
