Fire Prohibition for Deepwater, Eurimbula, Castle Tower NP and Baffle Creek CP

Applies until 16 September 2019.

This alert applies to the following parks:

A fire ban prohibiting the lighting of fires in the open has been declared by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services from 12pm Friday 6 September to Midnight Sunday 15 September, due to the current VERY HIGH or SEVERE fire danger and weather forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology. This notice will remain in place until the risk of wildfire moderates.

Fires are not permitted anywhere within the National Park.

Open fires are defined as: wood fires that are not fully self-contained, including open campfires and fires in braziers, drums, other open containers, and QPWS supplied fire-rings and barbeques. Permitted cooking and heating appliances include fuel stoves using manufactured fuels (e.g. LPG, hexamine fuel blocks, briquettes or heat beads). Appliances must be: Off the ground (recommended minimum height 200mm) and should not result in ash or coal deposit on the ground. Fully self-contained unit (e.g. Ozpig heating appliance) and well away from vegetation.

Visitors must comply with fire prohibition guidelines and directions of QPWS Rangers.

This alert will be reviewed on 16 September 2019.
