Changes to Hill Inlet Lookout access

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service advises that public access to the Hill Inlet lookouts will be temporarily reversed due to walking track construction being undertaken from 14 August to 26 August 2019. The upgrades are part of the Whitsunday Islands Investment Package, an initiative to improve tourism and recreation opportunities post ex Tropical Cyclone Debbie. Tender access to the Tongue Point trail head remains the same Access to the lookouts will be temporally reversed i.e. enter and exit from the southern lookout exit point (toilet end of current track) All three (3) lookouts will remain open during track construction The toilets will remain open The new staircase at Pocket Beach will be open during week 12th August The walking track upgrade to Betties Beach has been completed and open to public use Please observe all signs, barriers and directions provided by rangers and construction workers. No unauthorised persons, including commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are permitted to enter closed areas.
