Planned burn - Salvator Rosa section, Carnarvon National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will conduct a planned burn commencing on Monday the 20th of May 2019, as part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.

These burns are being undertaken to help protect life and property in the event of a wildfire.

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Mt Playfair Road, Cungellela Road and Mt Vexation Road. Persons with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation.

During the planned burn these areas are closed to public access:

  • Nogoa River camp ground
  • Spyglass Peak
  • Homoranthus Hill
  • Louisa Creek
  • Belinda Spring
  • Mitchell Spring

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.

All permits for closed areas are suspended for the duration of the closure. Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.
