Planned burn Fitzroy Island National Park

Applies until 20 September 2019.

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) intends to conduct a planned burn between Monday 16th and Friday 20th September 2019 on Fitzroy Island National Park.

For approximately 1 to 2 days during this period, the following walking tracks will be closed to the public (but may be re-opened earlier - if the area is deemed safe):

  • Summit Track
  • Lighthouse Road

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.

The Resort areas and other walking tracks (Secret Garden and Nudey Beach walking tracks) will remain open.

Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Fitzroy Island.
