Planned burn Fitzroy Island National Park

8 April to 27 June 2019

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) intends to conduct a planned burn between Monday 24th and Thursday 27th June 2019 on Fitzroy Island National Park. During this time some areas of Fitzroy Island National Park will be closed to the public. On the days of the planned burn the following areas are closed to public access: Summit Track walking track and Lighthouse Track. The walking tracks will be closed during the actual burn (expected duration of 1 - 2 days) however the tracks will be re-opened earlier if the area is deemed safe by QPWS personnel. Normal access will however be facilitated to the Resort area and the Nudey Beach and the Secret Garden walking tracks. Smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Fitzroy Island National Park. Observe all signage, barriers and directions from Rangers and do not enter closed areas.
