Planned fire line maintenance

26 March to 31 May 2019

This alert applies to the following parks:

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) is planning to conduct fire line upgrades as part of a strategic fire management program along a number of boundaries in Bunyaville Conservation Park. These include Northern Break, Reservoir Break, Jones Break and Collins Rd Break, works will begin in the coming weeks/months. (See map).

The upgrades will involve the use of machinery along the park boundary to remove vegetation and trees. This will reduce the risk of fire spreading to properties neighbouring the park and improve access and safety for emergency vehicles in case of wildfires. Nearby residents may experience machinery noise during the upgrade.

Environmental impact assessments have been completed where works are planned. Any impacts will be kept to a minimum. Fauna (wildlife) spotters will be on site while works are completed. The work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2019.

QPWS is holding two street meeting information sessions where you can obtain more information and discuss any concerns or questions you may have regarding these upgrades. The sessions are:

1. Friday 5th April 2019 4pm 8pmCowrie Parade Park, Cowrie Parade, Albany Creek

2. Saturday 6th April 2019, 10am 2pmBunyaville Conservation Park Day Use Area (Picnic Area)Entrance is off Old Northern Rd. 600m north of Collins Rd and 1.5km south of The Jinker Track.
